VISD releases statement from lone superintendent finalist
VICTORIA, Texas - The Victoria Independent School District Board of Trustees has named Sheila Collazo as the finalist for superintendent. Collazo currently serves as the deputy superintendent for the Somerset ISD, near San Antonio. She has served in this position for the past 8 years.
Collazo holds a Bachelor's degree and a Master of Science degree in Education from Texas A&M University Kingsville, the VISD stated in a press release.
"Ms. Collazo has a proven and successful track record as an educator and is passionate about student success. She strongly believes in public education and high standards for students," the VISD released.
The following statement was released by the VISD on behalf of Collazo:
"As leaders of today's learners, I believe it is our collective responsibility to create the culture and conditions for all students to excel by upholding the highest standards of excellence, challenging the status quo, staying current with the demands for staff and students, and accepting accountability for all aspects of our work—every day, all the time. Excellence and innovation are priority pillars to ensure that our students are prepared to meet current and future demands with competing and succeeding globally."
The Board is expected to offer Collazo a contract after the state-required 21-day waiting period.

April 25, 2024 | Victoria ISD Board of Trustees accept Dr. Quintin Shepherd's resignation and names Deputy Superintendent Randy Meyer as the Interim Superintendent.
April 4, 2024 | Dr. Quintin Shepherd, Superintendent of Schools is approved by the Pflugerville ISD Board of Trustees as the lone finalist for Superintendent of Schools for Pflugerville ISD.
