HAMPTON — Residents may not have a race to decide for their next State Representative, but they still have the chance to determine the next President, U.S. Senator, State Senator, U.S. Representative and Judge of Probate.
State Representative Pat Boyd, a Democrat, is unopposed. Boyd, who also represents the 50th house district towns of Ashford, Brooklyn, Eastford, Mansfield, Pomfret and Woodstock, was first elected in 2016. He is also a dean, teacher and coach at Pomfret School and a first responder with the Pomfret Volunteer Fire Department. As Representative, he is the chair of the Public Safety and Security Committee and also serves on the Committee on Children and on the Veterans and Military Affairs Committee.
Hampton's current State Senator is Republican Jeff Gordon, who is being challenged by Democrat Merry Garrett. The senatorial district, the state's 35th, also includes the towns of Ashford, Coventry, Eastford, Ellington, Hampton, Stafford, Thompson, Tolland, Union, Vernon, Willington and Woodstock.
