Warning, Major Flooding Imminent on Missouri’s Meramec River
The recent deluge of rain across Missouri is about to bring new challenges to deal with as authorities are warning that major flooding is imminent along several locations of the Meramec River in Missouri.
I saw this alert from the National Weather Service in St. Louis, Missouri regarding the recent heavy rainfall that lasted for days and what that means for locations along the Meramec River.
They warn that the impacts will arrive at different Missouri locations along the Meramec at different times. Highways O & F near Pacific, Missouri should see flooding cut off access from the south beginning Thursday night. Valley Park, Missouri will see flooding beginning Thursday afternoon while Arnold and Fenton, Missouri can expect transportation issues Friday morning, November 8.
This brings to mind the historic catastrophic flooding along the Meramec River in Missouri back in December of 2015.
It's also important to note that more rain is heading toward Missouri potentially as the National Weather Service also advised about the tropical system making its way into the Gulf of Mexico right now.
The good news is Missouri is expected to have a few days of dry before that happens. Let's hope the levees around the state remain stable as areas deal with this influx of water.
