Waynesboro, Staunton, Augusta accepting household hazardous waste from residents

Household Hazardous Waste Day is this Saturday.
Residents of Waynesboro, Staunton and Augusta County are invited to bring household hazardous waste materials to the city of Waynesboro facilities shop at 900 Essex Ave. for disposal from 8:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. Saturday.
Items accepted include gasoline, herbicides, polyurethane, pesticides, mercury devices, compact fluorescent light and fluorescent bulbs, acidic and basic solvents and propane, oxygen and helium tanks.
Materials that will not be accepted on Saturday include hazardous materials from businesses, unknown or unlabeled containers, electronics, televisions, water-based paint, household batteries and vehicle tires. These items can be disposed of at the Augusta Regional Landfill.
