Why is the tarp blue?

AUGUSTA, Ga (WJBF) – They're up on the roof, tarps protecting homes and unfortunately some now have tarp experience.

"My house, my mother in-law...my brother-in-law...so I tarped up those three houses, yeah," said Jake Neill.

At ABC Supply Company, the tarp business is through the roof.

"We have sold...probably sold over a thousand tarps just since the storm, we can't hardly keep them on the shelf," said Kevin Warren.

They've got different size tarps but different colors? Not so much...

"We basically carry only blue,"said Kevin.

It's a sea of blue out there with tarps.

"I guess that's just what they sell at Lowe's, they just all seem to be blue," said Jake.

"Lots of people ask why are they blue, why are they blue...well blue reflects the heat," said Kevin.

This wasn't the North Pole but look who we ran into: Santa and Mrs. Claus, and this Christmas they're thinking about a different color of tarp: red.

"Red is my favorite color, and you know why?" Santa queried

"Why?"

"Georgia Bulldogs" said Santa.

"Wouldn't a Georgia Bulldog tarp be cool,"

"That would be nice," Santa agreed.

A Georgia Bulldog tarp, that would sell!

"For sure in this area for sure, for sure," said Kevin.

Well, if you need a roof tarp, you probably don't care about the color or design because you are already blue enough.
