BOARDMAN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – William A. Franke, or "Bill" completed his baptism on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at his residence in Boardman, Ohio. He was born to Robert A. Franke and Stella Albert Franke on July 25, 1941. Find obituaries from your high school Bill is survived by his wife, Margaret Wallace Franke, his son Paul M. Franke, daughter in law Dee Franke, grandchildren Noah and Leah, and his sister Joyce Franke Ivers of Auburn, Alabama as well as many cousins. Bill loved his family, and he loved his adopted hometown of Truchas, New Mexico where he and Margaret spent the last 52 years. Bill arrived in Truchas as a summer worker from Menaul School where he was employed as a history teacher, 1968-1970. Bill was a member of Smith Memorial Presbyterian Church in Truchas where he served as church pianist. His service to the community included work at the Truchas Services Center, the New Mexico State Library and his life's work at Hand Artes Gallery which Bill owned and operated for over 30 years. Bill was a lover of and collector of art and had a joy in promoting the artists and their work. His hospitality to guests was a focus of his life as well. Bill and Margaret enjoyed their life's travels together. Bill's return to lower altitude in Ohio in May allowed him to breath easily and to enjoy fellowship and friendships at the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Boardman as well as at his new residence in the condo. Donations may be made to the Truchas Services Center Library in Truchas. No services are planned in Boardman but a service to the witness of the resurrection will be announced for Smith Memorial Presbyterian church, Truchas.
