Winnebago High School’s students look to the future at career fair
WINNEBAGO, Ill. (WTVO) — Students at Winnebago High School spent the day learning about the career opportunities they have in the stateline on Thursday.
A total of 29 professionals attended the event.
All 8th through 12th-grade students were given personalized schedules for the day based on their interests.
Future career-seekers went to four breakout sessions that lasted 30 minutes each. In these meetings, students learned about jobs and resources after high school.
The keynote speaker for career day was Garret Rapp, a Winnebago High School alum and former lead singer of the Rockford rock band "The Color Morale."
"We were lucky enough to have an alumni come in to talk to our students. It just helps relate the students a little bit better – that he went to school here," said Career and Technical Education Coordinator for WHS Alison Behn. "He has a very diverse background. For him to be here and speak to our students, I think that students were very engaged and motivated by Garrett being here and talking to them."
Rapp graduated from Winnebago High School in 1999.
