World Series 2024: Full Schedule and Predictions for LCS Bracket Action

D.Martin28 min ago
B/R The 2024 MLB postseason has been electric throughout.

Even still, it added another jolt on Thursday during Game 3 of the ALCS. After losing grasp of a 3-1 lead late in the game, the Cleveland Guardians rallied from a 5-3 deficit to knock off the New York Yankees on a pair of two-run homers: a ninth-inning blast from Jhonkensy Noel to send the game into extra innings and a 10th-inning walk-off shot from David Fry.

Just like that, a series that appeared on the edge of extinction suddenly has new life. The New York Mets, meanwhile, are left hoping to find their own magic after falling into a 3-1 hole with Thursday's 10-2 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

With World Series seats being snagged soon, let's predict how this round will play out after laying out the scheduling information for the Fall Classic.

Elsa/ Credit Cleveland for giving us an actual series. It sure felt like this was all but finished Thursday night when the Yankees spent the eighth and ninth innings turning a 3-1 deficit into a 5-3 advantage while getting more dingers from Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton.

The Guardians' comeback was—for everyone other than Yankees fans, obviously—objectively awesome to see. This was October baseball at its best.

"That was playoff baseball," Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters afterward. "Both sides just kept coming with haymakers and big at-bats, big moments off of two really good bullpens. They outlasted us. They had one more good swing than us."

With Cleveland hosting two more games, the Guardians have an opportunity to not only extend this series but potentially escape it.

Our crystal ball still doesn't see that happening, though. New York has more power in the lineup and enough pitching to pull this off.

Sean M. Haffey/ Game 2 felt like it could be the defining moment of the NLCS. That's when the Mets snapped the Dodgers' record-tying 33-inning postseason scoreless streak with six runs over the first two innings of their 7-3 victory.

Turns out, that contest may just be the outlier of this series. Remove Game 2, and L.A.'s scoring advantage in this series sits at an astounding 27-2.

"I love the way that our guys haven't let off the gas," Dodgers skipper Dave Roberts said . "We don't want to give these guys any momentum."

Jack Flaherty has a chance to make sure that doesn't happen. He'll be on the rubber Friday after throwing seven blanks in the Dodgers' 9-0 win in Game 1.

A New York comeback would be a story for the ages, but that's only because it's so unlikely. We'll avoid making a bold prediction just for the sake of doing it and instead focus on all of the signs suggesting this series doesn't make it back to the West Coast.
