Yorktown murder suspect arrested in South Carolina
YORKTOWN, Va. (WAVY) – A week after a 19-year-old man was shot to death in Yorktown, law enforcement tracked down the suspect in his murder, in South Carolina.
York-Poquoson Sheriff's deputies responded to the 200 block of Barham Boulevard just before midnight on Oct. 30 in response to calls about gunshots. They arrived to find 19-year-old Elysiah Lee-Jordan, who had been shot twice. He died from his injuries.
Man dead, sister injured after shooting at Yorktown Square Apartments
The shooting happened outside the Yorktown Square Apartments. The murder victim's 24-year-old sister was also shot. She was treated at the hospital and is expected to recover, the sheriff's office confirmed.
The investigation led to the arrest of 26-year-old Jafay Jabarre Moore on Nov. 7, in Sumter, South Carolina. Moore is from Newport News.
He is currently in custody at the Sumter County Detection Facility and is facing the following felony charges: murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and reckless handling of a firearm.
