After Draymond Green’s Angry Rant, Warriors Star and Grant Williams’ Rivalry Unearthed in Detail

J.Smith14 hr ago
Draymond Green is back with more jabs at Grant Williams! The Charlotte Hornets forward is making waves on the court, not just with his play. In February 2024, he clashed with Warriors star Lester Quinones. This time, his target is Celtics' forward Jayson Tatum. Once again, Draymond didn't hold back in his critique, firing shots at Williams with his signature bluntness.

The referees immediately ejected Grant Williams for a blindside body check on Jayson Tatum in the fourth quarter on Friday. The Hornets were already down 114-105 against the Celtics. Tatum had just grabbed a defensive rebound and was bringing the ball up the court. Williams' hard hit led to a Flagrant 2 call and an instant ejection. Now, the 25-year-old Hornets forward faces a potential fine or suspension. The incident at Spectrum Center infuriated Draymond Green too. The Warriors star who collects fouls and ejections as a 'hobby' felt Williams went overboard.

Taking to his X handle, Draymond posted a 3-tweet series of jabs. In the first tweet, he wrote: "Grant Williams saying it's not intentional fouling JT like that is mad wild. And he smiling about it." Williams who was an ex-Celtics player and friend of Tatum told the reporters, "definitely wasn't intentional." Well, Draymond Green isn't buying it. So he wrote again: "Thinking a blindside hit "on ya mans" is a smile-worthy offense means 1 of 2 things... you have zero awareness or you a goofy.... And both make you a goofy... goofy." It's high time DrayMagic considered stand-up comedy or roasting as his side quest. Because these remarks are surely going to leave blisters on Grant Williams.

Meanwhile, a final tweet from Draymond Green's side said: "He mad at JT about something lol... he was suppose to keep him in Boston lol. JT got a ring and dude let his frustrations out about it." Well, Dr. Dunkenstein's blunt approach to matters hasn't changed over the years. The sharp criticism of Grant Williams today makes it seem like an old rivalry is about to resurface.

Draymond Green's harsh jabs at Grant Williams rekindle the not-so-old episode from February There is love between Hornet's Grant Williams and Draymond Green. Friday's incident proved this fact yet again. Meanwhile, a blast from the past seems to be finding a replication in this matter. There was tension between Draymond Green of the Warriors and Grant Williams of the Hornets. Following a 97-84 win for the Warriors back in February 2024, Green criticized Williams after a confrontation ignited by Miles Bridges.

Miles Bridges swatted away Lester Quinones' layup attempt during garbage time. The referees called him for goaltending. Players from both teams clashed, and Williams ended up near the Golden State Warriors ' bench. Green was unimpressed, stating, "Ain't no friends for you over here, my man. You can't come over here and talk to us about what just happened with our players. Like no, we support [Quinones]." This wasn't their first feud; they had several confrontations during the 2022 NBA Finals.

Draymond Green warned, "Grant Williams [has] got to stop it. He can't keep being this tough guy. It's going absolutely wrong for him." He also referenced Williams' trade from the Mavericks due to attitude issues, saying, "Talking too much kind of got you out of Dallas." Green criticized Charlotte's reaction to Quinones scoring, remarking, "It's like this dumb unofficial unwritten rule that everybody gets mad. It's kind of like a sore loser type thing."

Green does not find Grant Williams' style of play amusing. Being an aggressive player himself it is easy for Draymond to understand what could be the possibility of someone who's coming to attack. Therefore, from time to time, the 4x NBA champ takes his time to call out the Charlotte Hornets power forward for his gameplay. JT could have faced an injury during Grant's maneuver, but he was lucky, to say the least. But, what lies ahead for the Hornets star is surely something unfavorable for the next few games. And undoubtedly all eyes would be on this matter.
