ALDI store in Ballincollig recognised as ‘Happiest Store in Ireland’

The German discount retail giant conducted a survey of employees at all 162 of its Irish stores to determine which was the 'happiest' one.

The retailer's survey looked at factors such as job satisfaction, colleague relationships and day-to-day emotions. Supermarket chain ALDI Ireland is marking 25 years in Ireland this year.

ALDI's Ballincollig store in Westside Retail Park first opened in November 1999 and was ALDI's joint-first store in Ireland, along with one on Dublin's Parnell Street.

ALDI Ballincollig currently employs 17 staff, including Store Manager, Jackie Young, who has been with ALDI since 2002.

Ms Young said she was 'thrilled' with the results of the survey. "As store managers, we are committed to making sure our colleagues are happy in their roles, so I was thrilled to discover that our Ballincollig store is truly the happiest." "Our Ballincollig store has a really solid community around it," said the store manager. "We welcome a lot of the same faces daily and our staff have a really good rapport with our regular customers. It is the excellent customer service and shopping experience that keeps our customers coming back."

Over the past 25 years in Ireland, ALDI has expanded to 162 stores across the country, and prides itself on being a positive and supportive place to work for all its employees, The Ballincollig store was recognised for how enjoyable employees found their role, as well as the general happiness of customers who visit the store.

Ballincollig employees recommended ALDI as a great place to work and they were keen to recommend Ballincollig as a place to visit. As ALDI continues to celebrate its 25 years in Ireland, both the Ballincollig and Parnell Street stores will carry the festivities into November, with activities planned to commemorate being the first ALDI stores to open in Ireland.
