All three NE D-I schools headed in NCAA Volleyball Championship, Nebraska top overall seed

There are three Division I schools in Nebraska. You go down Interstate 80, you'll come across them.

In Lincoln, there's Nebraska. Go further east, you find Creighton and Omaha.

In the tournament field, come late November, 64 teams get the honor of their name being heard. All three of Nebraska's schools lived that honor on Sunday evening. Check out where they end up in the bracket and how they got there:

NEBRASKA (28-1; No. 1 Seed in Nebraska Quarter and top overall seed):

It's only right to start out with the Huskers. You've seen them all season, whether it was making a trip to Lincoln or sticking with us for coverage of the best volleyball team in the country.

Big Red is the outright Big Ten Champion for the first time since 2017. Plus, the Huskers have the most top 25 wins in the country, boasting nine of them.

The defense has been physical and dominant as well. Nebraska has forced a .141 opposing hitting percentage, good enough for third in the nation.

All of this was enough to earn the top overall seed of the tournament. Nebraska will host its first round match on Friday against LIU at 7 p.m.

CREIGHTON (27-4; No. 3 Seed in Pittsburgh Quarter):

Plenty of love for the Bluejays in our viewing area, a team that gave the Huskers their first true test of the season.

The Jays are 27-4, taking home a BIG EAST Tournament title on Saturday, Nov. 25. One of Creighton's losses came in Lincoln, yes. But, it was the first team to win a set against Nebraska.

Defense is the name of the game for Creighton as well, boasting the top hitting percentage in the land - .134.

Creighton opens up as the 3-seed in the Pittsburgh quarter, opening up against Colgate, who won the Patriot League for the third straight season. First serve is set for Friday at 6:30 p.m.

OMAHA (15-13; Wisconsin Quarter):

Those pesky Mavericks. It's been one heck of road for them.

When a team starts 0-9, you think there's no way they make the tournament, right? Think again.

The Mavericks clawed their way back, winning eight straight matches. That helped Omaha finish the season with a 15-4 record.

From there, the Mavs defeated Denver in five sets, then Kansas City in five sets in the Summit League Championship final.

All of that has led Omaha to the "big dance," where it matches up with 4th-seeded Kansas. The Jayhawks swept the Mavericks, back on Aug. 26. The rematch is set for Thursday at 7 p.m.
