NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio (WOIO) - An argument at a school bus stop turns into an assault. Sara Jones, 46, of North Royalton was surprised to learn that she was the one facing an assault charge. , Jones told police on bodycam video that a man who was waiting in his truck for his son to get off the school bus physically assaulted her. "He said don't you ever touch my truck, and then he hit me with his door, and he was like I will stab you in the neck," said Jones. But the unidentified man in the truck, along with several witnesses told police a very different story. "She just kept trying to hit me and hit my phone," said the man. "I didn't know what she was trying to do." Jones said she couldn't see when the bus arrived because of the other parent's truck. "He slapped me this way, he slapped me down like that," Jones told police. "She came at me like three times, and the last time I said I'm over it. I'm calling the police," said the other parent. Jones claimed she was the victim during the November 1 encounter at the bus stop located on State Route 82 and Woodcroft Trace. Jones was even accused of following the man as he walked over to meet his son getting off the bus. "She says is that your son, is that your son? She starts approaching my son, yelling at him," said the man. "Yelling at all the kids, my son was practically in tears." The next day Jones was at the North Royalton Police headquarters and asked to sign her ticket and get fingerprinted. But she threatened to call a lawyer when she found out the man she was arguing with wasn't facing charges, but she was. "He did not get charged with assault after he slammed me to the ground," said Jones. The patrol officer said the other party didn't face charges because witnesses backed up his story that he was defending himself. At one point in the bodycam video, when it appeared Jones wanted to leave the police department without signing her ticket, the officer made it clear he was not fooling around. "You're not free to go," said the officer "If you leave this building you will be arrested. You need to be fingerprinted so sit down." Even though Jones was eventually fingerprinted she continued to challenge and berate the officers. "I'm asking you a direct question," said Jones. "You won't answer my question? You have control issues." Exactly what happened at the bus stop will now have to be sorted out in court. Jones is expected to make her initial appearance before the judge on the assault charge on Wednesday, November 30.
