Body of murder suspect found in Natchitoches lake, police investigating

NATCHITOCHES, La. ( KTAL/KMSS ) — A body of a murder suspect has been found in the Cane River Lake in Natchitoches on Wednesday.

According to the Natchitoches Police Department on Wednesday around 2:11 p.m., officers were contacted about a possible body in Cane River Lake. Upon arrival they located a body in the river and contacted the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office search and rescue boat for assistance.

Police say officers and deputies were able to recover the body of, 31-year-old Angle Lee Reed, who was pronounced deceased by the Natchitoches Parish Coroner's Office.

Police say Reed was wanted for Second Degree Murder and Attempted Second Degree Murder of 55-year-old Marshall Claiborne.

On November 10, 2024 around 3:10 a.m., officers with were dispatched to the 500 block of Lakeview Drive in reference to a gunshot victim. Police say they found Claiborne with multiple gunshot wounds. He taken to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries.

Police say another suspect, 26-year-old Alvin James Holden is still wanted for Second Degree Murder and Attempted Second Degree Murder of Claiborne.
