Car flips several times, catches fire in Houma parking lot
HOUMA, La. ( WGNO ) — A car flipped and caught fire in the parking lot of a Houma business in the early morning hours of Saturday, Nov. 2.
According to the Houma Fire Department, while they were already on scene at a vehicle crash, officials were called to a second crash at the intersection of Bond and Barataria streets at around 1:15 a.m. The initial reports claimed that the vehicle had flipped multiple times and hit a local business.

On scene, an investigation showed that the vehicle was heading south when it hit the median and then spun and flipped into the business's parking lot. The building wasn't hit, although the vehicle did catch fire shortly after the driver got out of it and escaped.
Officials say that the vehicle was "heavily consumed by fire" by the time firefighters were on scene. Crews reportedly had the scene under control within five minutes.
The vehicle's occupant was taken to a local hospital by Acadian Ambulance. The Houma Police Department is investigating the crash.
