Carlisle to conduct annual emergency alert test Nov. 19
Carlisle residents can expect to receive an emergency alert notification from the borough next week as part of an annual test.
The alert will go out at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 19 through Carlisle's CodeRed system, borough officials announced in a news release.
All numbers in Carlisle's current emergency notification database will receive a phone call from the CodeRed Emergency Notification System with a caller ID of 1-866-419-5000.
The call will consist of a pre-recorded message about the system. Officials said the system will leave a voicemail if the call is not answered and residents who signed up to receive text or email alerts will receive a similar notification during the test.
"The purpose of this All Call test is to enhance the efficiency of the alert system and ensure faster delivery of notifications during real emergencies," the release reads.
All invalid numbers will be removed from the system after the test.
Future alerts could include boil water notifications, emergency street closures, missing persons, evacuation notices and more, according to borough officials.
Residents and businesses can sign up for CodeRed alerts, update their contact information or opt out of receiving notifications at www.carlislepa.org/codered .
All contact information will be kept private and information will only be used for borough-issued notifications.
