Community listening session in Old Town sparks conversation for change

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Wednesday night, a group of people gathered together in Lansing's Old Town to express their concerns about issues within their neighborhood.

"There isn't just one answer. There isn't just one problem. There are many," said Monica Zuchowski, a Lansing resident.

Homelessness and crime were two of the hot topics of discussion.

"It's the most important thing to hear from the people who are living it and also seeing it," said Trisha Washburn, an Engagement Specialist with Nation Outside .

Although Washburn is unsure where the information collected from the discussion will go, she hopes to eventually pass it along to local and state officials.

"The more people that come and voice their feelings, and what's on their mind, and what they're seeing, the better our data is going to be," said Washburn.

"These kind of discussions help folks maybe open up their scopes a little bit more," said Zuchowski.
