WALLINGFORD, CT — Police are investigating two robberies that happened at convenience stores on the busy Route 5 corridor within the past week in Wallingford, according to Lt. Stephen Jaques.

The first robbery happened around 10:05 p.m. on Nov. 8 at Checkers at 99 North Colony Road.

Jaques said a suspect wearing a camouflage jacket and a ski mask made off with cash from the register.

"The suspect did not display any weapon and no one was injured," Jaques wrote in a news release. "Officers did not make an arrest on scene."

The second robbery happened around 5:40 p.m. on Nov. 13 at Valero at 720 North Colony Road, according to Jaques.

Jaques said a suspect "wearing a lighter colored Carhartt style jacket, a lighter hoodie underneath, and a facemask threatened the clerk with a handgun and made off with cash from the register."

The suspect displayed a handgun, but no one was injured, according to Jaques. Officers did not make an arrest at the scene, Jaques said.

"The Wallingford Police Department would like to urge business owners, residents, and transients alike to be vigilant," Jaques wrote. "We ask that business owners and workers ensure their surveillance systems are functioning, that they have access to telephones to call for emergency services, and that they take care to ensure they are safeguarding their staff, cash, and merchandise. We cannot say whether the robberies are linked. The suspect(s) remain at large and may be armed and dangerous."

Police are continuing to investigate and anyone with information is asked to call 203-294-2800. Anonymous tips can be made here .
