DENVER (KDVR) — A Denver Police Department sergeant was arrested at her Douglas County residence on Nov. 11 for charges related to a domestic violence assault, the Denver agency shared Tuesday. Stephanie Neblock, 41, was arrested for investigation of third-degree assault, child abuse – knowing/reckless with no injury, and domestic violence. Denver couple sentenced for defrauding defense contractor out of over $5 million According to an arrest affidavit, Douglas County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to the 8000 block of Chico Creek Place in Douglas County for a verbal domestic incident on Nov. 11 at about 9:35 a.m. Officers said they contacted Neblock's husband first. He told officers he left the house that morning and returned at about 8 a.m., when the couple got into an argument. He alleged that later in the argument, the Denver sergeant "threw a water bottle" that almost hit someone, but the details were redacted from the arrest affidavit. Later still in the argument, she allegedly threw a hard plastic cup and hit her husband's knuckle. He showed a photo of the injury to police that was timestamped to 7:42 a.m., and officers observed that his knuckle was no longer red. Officers also heard an audio recording of the argument provided by the husband. "During the audio, (the husband) can be heard asking why Stephanie would throw something multiple times," the arrest affidavit states. Douglas County School District considers consolidating elementary schools The arrest affidavit states that the Denver police sergeant denied ever throwing things at her husband, and said it was just a verbal argument. According to the Denver Police Department, Neblock joined the agency in 2006 and was most recently assigned to the Division of Administration. She was placed in a "different off-line assignment and will remain in that role while the case makes its way through the judicial process," the agency said. The criminal investigation is being conducted by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. An administrative review will begin after the case is adjudicated and that process will include the Denver Department of Safety and Office of the Independent Monitor.
