Details on snow warnings, weather advisories in NE Ohio

CLEVELAND (WJW) — If you’re looking for some snow in the forecast, this week could be for you.

The National Weather Service has announced a Lake Effect Snow Warning for Lake, Geauga, and Ashtabula Counties. The warning went into effect Monday at 7 a.m. for Lake and Ashtabula and goes into effect at 7 p.m. for Geauga. It ends for all Wednesday at 7 a.m.

A Lake Effect Snow Warning also goes into effect at 9 p.m. for Cuyahoga Couty and lasts until midnight Tuesday night.

A Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect at 1 a.m. and lasts until 7 p.m. Tuesday for Portage County. It also goes into effect Monday at 7 p.m. through Tuesday at 7 a.m. for Trumbull County.

We will have scattered drizzle with some snow showers out east this morning. Limited accumulations. Wet pavement elsewhere.

Most of the area today will be snow-free with the exception of the snowbelt later today/evening. Several inches of quick accumulation late afternoon/evening east...late evening snowfall along the shoreline.

Overnight, the front passes. Band of general snow between 3am and 9am with a quick 3-6′′ of snow across a large part of the area. A messy Tuesday morning commute.

Snowfall forecast from 2 a.m. through 10 a.m. Tuesday

SNOWFALL TUESDAY: The stronger general snow early Tuesday between 3 a.m. and 9 a.m. Visibility will be reduced and travel will be tricky on Tuesday morning. This will fade then heavier lake effect snow with heavy snowfall rates of 1-2′′ an hour Tuesday and into the evening/night in the Snowbelt.

Snowfall is forecast from overnight/early Tuesday through Tuesday afternoon.
