Get ready for a snowy, cold Tuesday: Northeast Ohio’s weather forecast

CLEVELAND, Ohio - While flakes have begun to fly, the biggest impact of this winter storm will become apparent Tuesday morning. The National Weather Service’s forecast for Tuesday calls for highs in the upper 20s with blowing and drifting snow and lake-effect snow bands as well, along with potentially gusty winds. Snowfall totals will depend on which part of Northeast Ohio you are looking at. Parts of Lorain County could see 1-3 additional inches of snow on Tuesday while most of Medina and Summit Counties will probably see less than an inch. While much of Cuyahoga County will see an additional 1-3 inches, snow belt communities will see higher totals. East of Cleveland, Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula Counties will all see at least 2-4 inches of additional snowfall or more depending on where snow bands persist. Hazardous weather outlook A Lake Effect Snow Warning is in effect until 7 a.m. Wednesday for Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula Counties. The heaviest snows will fall late Monday and into the morning hours Tuesday, potentially impacting the morning commute. Winds gusts of 30 mph or more can be expected as well. Geauga County could see a total of 6 to 13 inches of snowfall. Lake and Ashtabula Counties could see 8 to 14 inches of snow while much of Cuyahoga County could see 4 to 8 inches, except for some localized parts in the northeast corner of the county where up to a foot could fall.
