Five people have been arrested during anti-weapon patrols in Wolverhampton.

Patrols took place in the city centre and Whitmore Reans areas where there is concern about possession of weapons, West Midlands Police said.

One man was detained on suspicion of aggravated burglary where a knife was seen, as well as a number of other burglaries and theft from vehicles.

Another man ran from officers in West Park but was detained after a short chase, police said. Three other people were arrested on suspicion of burglary, harassment and domestic assault.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We take carrying a weapon seriously. If you know someone who is carrying a weapon please call us on 101 to report.

"You can also talk to us online or report anonymously to Crimestoppers."
