FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A Fresno Unified high school is about to create more learning opportunities for students following the first donation of a car to its auto tech program.

The Fresno Unified School District announced they will be celebrating on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. the donation of a Lincoln Aviator from Future Ford to the Automotive Technology program at the Duncan Polytechnical High School.

"This is a milestone donation for our auto students at Duncan Polytechnical," said Interim Superintendent Misty Her. "We are grateful to the Future Ford dealership for helping ensure that our students have the industry-standards training that they need to successfully transition to careers in the automotive field."

According to the district, the donation will create more opportunities for hands-on learning for students. Additionally, the district says Future Ford will provide original manufacturer training, which could lead to certification recognized by auto shops and help students obtain jobs in the industry.

During this celebration, Fresno Unified officials say they will recognize the dealership for their support through internships, donations and providing advisers to the auto program.

The celebration will be held at the Auto Shop Room 57 at Duncan Polytechnical High School at 4330 E. Garland Avenue.
