S.Brown2 hr ago
Michael Chandler is all geared up to deliver fireworks at UFC 309 against Charles Oliveira . The 23-8 fighter's previous five UFC appearances included four bonuses, and he doesn't see another chance to avenge his loss to Oliveira. He even warned that he would outshine UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones just before Jones makes his first HW title defense against former champion Stipe Miocic. However, it is worth noting that Chandler hasn't fought for a long time. But despite this, with the wrestling prowess that he has, fans truly would be inclined to believe every word he says about his capabilities to become the Fight of the Night. But have you ever wondered what martial arts Michael Chandler is proficient in, especially against a submission specialist like 'Do Bronxs'?

Well, that is a question that has often plagued fans, and that is where we will help you out in finding out all there is to know about Michael Chandler's experience in martial arts and whether or not he managed to master the arts of combat sports in one particular fighting style. So without further ado, let's find out!

What is Michael Chandler's fighting style? Growing up in High Ridge, Missouri, Chandler had always had a knack for sports. 'Iron' was on the honor roll in high school and received three letters in football. However, it was combat sports that always had his attention. As a result, he took on wrestling and was the runner-up at the MSHSAA State Championships as a senior in wrestling. During his senior season, he was made a part of the All-St. Louis Team and was voted the Most Valuable Wrestler.

While at the University of Missouri, he got into the school's wrestling squad and also became a four-time NCAA Division I qualifier with over 100 wins, which helped him earn a fifth place at the NCAA as a senior. Soon, he developed an interest in MMA and began training at the Xtreme Couture before starting his MMA journey. In the process, he also earned his black belt on the 10th planet Jiu-Jitsu.

Because of his background in wrestling and BJJ, he truly is a fighter who can take on any opponent on the mat. Something that makes strikers in the UFC more cautious around him. In fact, in his first fight with Oliveira, Chandler came close to tasting UFC gold when he fell and seriously injured him. However, 'Do Bronx' was able to recover and stop Chandler via TKO just 19 seconds from the second round to claim the vacant title at UFC 262.

But the fight truly proved that Chandler is a ferocious fighter who can take on anyone he wishes. In fact, he was the one who was scheduled to welcome UFC's top fighter Conor McGregor back into the octagon at UFC 303 in June, but McGregor withdrew due to injury. However, Chandler is all geared up now to take his revenge against Charles Oliveira. What do you think? Will he be able to pull it off? Let us know in the comments.
