Man found shot near central Phoenix freeway

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man is in the hospital after a shooting near a freeway in central Phoenix on Wednesday evening and police are working a second scene that's related.

Officers were called out to Dunlap Avenue near Interstate 17 around 6:30 p.m.

When they got there, they found the shooting victim.

He was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

No word on any suspect description.

The Dunlap Avenue overpass is shut down in both directions while police investigate.

Officers were also sent out to the Motif Apartment Homes , an apartment complex on Cactus Road, just east of the I-17 , for a shots fired call.

Police said both scenes are connected but didn't reveal any other information.
