HIGH POINT — Mayor Cyril Jefferson said on Tuesday that a man killed in what appears to be an accidental shooting last month at a High Point residence was a relative.

Jefferson's name was referenced in a supplemental incident report of the shooting released late Tuesday afternoon by the High Point Police Department. Hasson Williams, 32, of Greensboro, was killed in the shooting that happened Oct. 19 at a Ridgebrooke Drive home in northwest High Point.

"As an advocate for gun safety, it breaks my heart to learn about this accident. We look forward to the SBI completing their investigation into the matter and cannot provide any further comment at this time."

The police last month turned over the case to the State Bureau of Investigation because it involved a local elected official.

Jefferson is mentioned in the supplemental report as an additional names listing.

The family of the man shot and killed by Hamilton police on Saturday has identified him as Erixon Kabera — a father of three, known for his kindness and dedication to Hamilton's Rwandan community. His wife, Lydia Nimbeshaho, told CBC News her family is devastated and demanding answers. She was not at Kabera's apartment at the time of the shooting, but went to see him in the hospital after."They killed him like an animal ... I don't even know how I'm going to live with this," she said in an inter
