Messiah Lifeways expands new retirement community into York County

YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A retirement community based in Cumberland County is expanding into York County.

Messiah Lifeways held a groundbreaking ceremony today for the new "Fernecrest Campus," which will be located on farmland along Spanglers Mill Road in Fairview Township. The campus will have 131 apartments and homes along with a cafe and restaurant, walking trails, and fishing and kayaking.

"Every interior and exterior space has been thoughtfully crafted to promote a sense of community, providing areas for residents to gather, to grow, to explore, and to reflect," said Karl Brummer, the President and CEO and Messiah Lifeways.

Fernecrest is set to open in 2027 for those 62 and older. Messiah Lifeways also has campuses in Mechanicsburg and Mount Joy.
