EXETER: The Cosmopolitan Seniors are planning a trip to Mount Airy on Wednesday. Players will receive $25 free play and a free buffet for those 55 and older. Players can also participate in a free slot tournament. Pick ups are in Exeter and Pittston. Non members welcome on trips. Call Johanna at 570-655-2720 for reservations and information.

NANTICOKE: The Rose Tucker Active Adult Center, 128 W. Washington St., will host the Area Agency on Aging at 11 a.m. on Thursday to discuss spousal benefits.

Harrold’s Pharmacy will be on hand at 11 a.m. on July 22 to give a presentation on medication safety and disposal.

Pat Rogan, a representative from Congressman Lou Barletta’s office, will be at the center on July 29 to discuss the senior services offered by the office.

Departure time for the Sands Casino bus trip will be at 9 a.m. on July 30 from St. Mary’s Church. The cost is $23 for members and $24 for non members. Vouchers will be given for $20 slot play and there is a $5 food voucher.

Wyoming Valley Drug and Alcohol will be at the center at 11:15 a.m. on July 31 to give a presentation on prescription drug abuse.

PLAINS TWP.: The Plains Senior Citizens held a meeting on July 2 with President Kevin O’Connor presiding. He reminded the members to make final plans for the baskets for the Plains Township Night Out Crime Watch that is to be held on Aug. 5. at the Leo Solomon School.

Mike Boncheck gave a report on the trip to Woodlock Pines on Nov. 2. The cost is $65 and includes the buffet. Membership is not required to attend the trips. Call Mike Boncheck at 570-823-2871 for details.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday. Host and hostesses will be Marion Mahle, Yolanda Mariani, Dolores McDermott, Bob Mitchel and Frances Mattiucci. They are asked to be at the cafeteria by 11:30 a.m. to set up refreshments.

New members are always welcome.

PLYMOUTH: The Senior Citizen’s Friendship Club of St. Mary’s will host its annual picnic on Aug. 21 at the Checkerboard Inn in Dallas. Non members are invited.

Chance winners from a previous meeting were Chris Hurst, Rosalie Meurer and Phyllis Stock.

There will be a combined trip to Wildwood and Lancaster (Amishland) Sept. 14-18. All gratuities for transportation, luggage handling and meals are included. If interested, call Ann at 570-779-3203.

SWOYERSVILLE: The Swoyersville Senior Citizens will meet at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church social hall with President Liz Zdanciewicz presiding.

Winners of the 50-50 fundraiser at the previous meeting were Arlene Gomba, Joseph Cheskiewicz and Jo Ann Baker.

The picnic is scheduled for July 23.

WILKES-BARRE: The Charles T. Adams Active Adult Center, 5 E. Market St., will host Wilkes University at 11 a.m. today to discuss the Veterans Program.

A salad bar will be served at 12:15 p.m. on July 23.

The center’s picnic will be held on July 25 at Frances Slocum State Park.
