Palm Beach County leaders discuss ways to secure the West Palm Beach water supply
Palm Beach County leaders met on Wednesday to discuss ways to secure the city of West Palm Beach's water supply.
West Palm Beach Mayor Keith James says the area's water supply is mostly tied to Lake Okeechobee but believes the Army Corps of Engineers violated the savings clause in the Water Resources Development Act of 2000, putting the water supply at risk.
City officials filed a lawsuit in a federal court to address the claims. Next week's hearing on Nov. 20 is expected to touch on potentially ending the Water Resources Development of 2000 which could end federal interference.
