Recent police survey shows residents are no shows at neighborhood meetings

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — Demeterick Baker is the president of the Old Erie Neighborhood Association and says he's surprised the recent police survey shows residents are no shows at their neighborhood meetings.

Baker says the neighborhood crime prevention officer or CPO for short attends every meeting.

"If you come to the meetings you would know what is going on in the neighborhood you would know what the crime rate is and everyone because our CPO is there and explain everything you," says Baker

The 36 question survey is conducted every two years to fall within the department's Calea accreditation requirement.

Although the participants are anonymous, about half of the responses were from residents who say they've lived in Evansville for more than 30 years.

EPD says the responses show the greatest areas of concern are burglaries, drug use and sale and traffic.

EPD says it is already making adjustments based on those results. Tomorrow they say they are conducting a traffic detail.

Although they could not give us an exact location, they do say it will be somewhere on the Lloyd Expressway.
