Sorrento man arrested, charged in child porn investigation

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Louisiana State Police arrested a 30-year-old man who was accused of having child sexual abuse material.

According to LSP, starting in August 2024, the LSP Special Victims Unit, the Louisiana Attorney General's Office, the Department of Homeland Security and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) started an investigation into the possession of child sexual abuse material.

During the investigation, on Nov. 12, detectives conducted a search warrant of a home belonging to Jesse M. Nigro, of Sorrento.

Nigro was later arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on charges of distribution of child sexual abuse material under the age of 13 and two counts of possession of child sexual abuse material under the age of 13.

Police say this is an ongoing investigation.

An arrest report gives more details about what occurred before a man was shot to death Wednesday in the 3200 block of West Edgewood Avenue. Investigators observed surveillance video that showed the victim driving an orange Chevrolet Camaro with orange rims at the intersection of Edgewood Avenue and New Kings Road, according to the JSO arrest report for Lavertis Reed, 20, who was charged with murder in the shooting. As the victim's vehicle crossed the intersection, a white vehicle with dark rims was observed on the surveillance video driving south at a high rate of speed on New Kings Road, the arrest report states.
