Suspect flees traffic stop, hits police crusier before being taken into custody

TROY, Ohio ( WDTN ) — A person is in custody after a failed traffic stop led to a pursuit. According to Troy Police, an officer attempted a traffic stop around 8:14 p.m. The suspect failed to stop, ensuing a pursuit. The suspect struck a police cruiser before officers used a pit maneuver to stop them. The pursuit ended on West Market Street and Dorset Road. No injuries were reported. Investigators observed surveillance video that showed the victim driving an orange Chevrolet Camaro with orange rims at the intersection of Edgewood Avenue and New Kings Road, according to the JSO arrest report for Lavertis Reed, 20, who was charged with murder in the shooting. As the victim's vehicle crossed the intersection, a white vehicle with dark rims was observed on the surveillance video driving south at a high rate of speed on New Kings Road, the arrest report states. Chanel Maya Banks, an actor whose family said she went missing for two weeks, has been found safe in Texas, police said. On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Police Department said Banks has been found safe, and no foul play is suspected. These police officers knew something was wrong before the 911 call came through. Officers from the London Ohio Police Division spotted a child walking alone. As they turned around to follow him, an emergency call came over the radio saying a 5-year-old boy with autism had gone missing. He was floating on his back in creek waters that were 3-feet deep when the officers found him. According to authorities, the boy was taken to a hospital for observation and released.
