Thursday's Weather: Mild and sunny today with highs in the low 70s

EAST TEXAS (KLTV/KTRE) - Our Thursday is off to a pretty chilly start this morning in the mid-upper 40s and lower 50s. Expect clear skies and lots of sunshine today as temperatures slowly climb into the low 70s for highs. Clear skies and calm winds overnight will lead to a cold start to our Friday with AM temps in the low 40s for some locations! We'll likely rebound back into the lower 70s on Friday afternoon thanks to sunshine and easterly winds. Temperatures will continue to trend warmer and warmer as we move into the weekend, with highs in the middle 70s on Sunday and upper 70s will be possible for some on Sunday. A few showers will be possible by Sunday, but rain chances will be more likely Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning ahead of our next cold front. Speaking of cold front, get ready for a significant cooldown for the middle of next week! So far, highs for Wednesday and Thursday could be in the upper 50s and low 60s, meaning get that "closet smell" off of those coats and jackets because you just might need them!!
