Two dead in apparent murder-suicide in north St. Louis

ST. LOUIS — St. Louis police are investigating the apparent shooting deaths of a man and woman in the Walnut Park neighborhood.

According to police reports, the shooting occurred shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday in a home on the 5500 block of Goodfellow Boulevard. Inside the home, officers found Truman Nelson, Jr., 49, and Martina Peeler, 42, in the bedroom of the home. Both Nelson Jr. and Peeler had been shot.

Nelson Jr. and Peeler were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Police say they have recovered a handgun from near Nelson Jr.'s body, and investigators believe he shot Peeler before shooting himself.
