Two key Pittsburgh Steelers players go down with injuries against Ravens

PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Steelers suffered two more key injuries ahead of their Thursday Night Football game against the Cleveland Browns. On a short week, any injury suffered could result in a missed game.

Head coach Mike Tomlin said the defensive tackle Keeanu Benton and cornerback Joey Porter Jr. were the only injuries. Benton's injury needs further evaluation, while Porter suffered a contusion. Porter returned to the game after a short absence, but Benton never returned to the game.

Benton was gimpy postgame but was not on crutches or in a boot, which is a good sign. Tomlin will likely speak on Monday with the short week and give an update on the severity of Benton's injury .

Meanwhile, Porter's injury is not expected to be significant or sideline him for a long time. Losing Benton, however, would be significant.

The Steelers are already without backup nose tackle Montravius Adams, who suffered a torn meniscus before the team's bye week. He could be back as early as the team's game against the Bengals, but will not be back for their game against the Cleveland Browns.
