WARM hosts a raffle to renovate, open Men’s Unity Lodge

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — A recovery center and a car dealership are teaming up and giving people a chance to help eliminate what many call an issue.

The team at the Women's Addiction Recovery Manor — better known as WARM — in Henderson is hoping to expand its focus and help men facing drug and alcohol addiction as well.

WARM has operated as a women's recovery center for nearly two decades.

Now it is looking to open the Men's Unity Lodge. The lodge will serve as a transitional home for men in recovery. The group is holding a raffle to help make the project a reality.

WARM envisions housing 14 men at a time at the facility on First Street.

"It will serve men in recovery, and its also an alternative to going back to jail or to be incarcerated," says Carrie Gentry who serves for the Recovery Resource Club of Henderson.

The organization is asking the community to help the Men's Unity Lodge become a resource in Henderson.

This home needs renovations to make it happen.

"Everyone knows someone who has struggled, and, so, it's so important that we create a community of inclusiveness, a community of love and support so that we can help them on that path of recovery and help them stay sober," Gentry says.

WARM has teamed up with a Henderson car dealership in hopes some rather nice prizes will encourage people to buy tickets.

Audubon Chrysler has donated four vehicles, $30,000 cash as a prize and other prizes.

One person will win the $30,000. 100 people will also win and be given the option between a 65-inch TV or a blackstone.

WARM is ready to sell tickets at $25 each to turn these empty rooms into livable spaces for men.

The organization says there is more at stake than just keeping people sober. It also counsels clients on other life lessons such as budgeting.

"With recovery, we want to make sure that we do not just get them clean, but we also want to show them how to be a productive citizen, how to do things a different way than they're used to thinking."

Tickets are available online through December 31. The first drawings will take place January 4.
