4-year-old dies falling from apartment building while jumping on bed

SHORELINE, Wash. (KIRO) – A 4-year-old girl died last weekend after falling from an apartment window.

According to the medical examiner, the girl officially died of blunt force trauma from the fall Oct. 13.

"She has a beautiful soul. And I'm just never, none of us are going to get that back," her mother, Najaha Chancellor said.

Chancellor said she was watching her four children by herself last Sunday when one of them opened her bedroom window.

She said her daughter was jumping on her bed near an open window.

"She bumped into it, the screen fell off and she went down," Chancellor said. "I completely lost it."

Chancellor said her daughter was very outgoing and caring and she loved expressing herself.

"She just made everyone happy, it didn't matter who it was. Everyone just loved her, cared about her," Chancellor said.

Now, she's trying to remain strong for her three other children, and she's hoping to raise awareness so no other parent will have to experience what she's feeling.
