Wyoming Valley Health Care System: Bob Hoffman has been named vice
president for direct patient care services at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Hoffman has extensive experience in clinical operations and has been
actively involved in hospital management since 1983. A registered nurse and
respiratory therapist, he earned a bachelor’s degree in health care
administration from Ottawa University and is completing a Master of Business
Administration degree at Baker’s School of Business in Flint, Mich.
He is a Shavertown resident.
Carl A. LaMastra CPA, P.C.: The Royersford firm has hired Diana Shoemaker
McClure, formerly of Luzerne County, to provide business advice and financial
planning services.
McClure earned a bachelor’s degree in accountancy from Villanova
University.
After graduation, she spent four years with Grant Thornton and then worked
in private industry.
At Carl A. LaMastra, she will perform reviews and compilations for
businesses and assist families and individuals with personal and estate tax
matters.
A Shavertown native, she now resides in Collegeville.
T.G.I. Friday’s: Jeff Metz has been promoted to vice president of
operations. He will oversee operations of eight T.G.I. Friday’s restaurants in
Wilkes-Barre, Quakertown, Williamsport, and Toms River, Atlantic City, Brick,
Somers Point and Turnersville, N.J. His responsibilities will include
supervision of restaurant management, marketing, recruiting and purchasing.
He was regional manager for four New Jersey Friday’s locations. His food
service experience includes managing J. Clark’s restaurant in Pittsburgh, a
variety of management positions at T.G.I. Friday’s and a commercial food
service sales position at Heinz USA.
Metz is a graduate of Washington and Jefferson College in Pittsburgh, where
he earned a degree in business. He received culinary training at the Culinary
Institute of America.
Penn Millers: The insurance company has announced two promotions:
Crystal Kravits has been promoted to manager, technical services. Kravits
joined Penn Miller in 1989 as an actuarial analyst and was promoted to
technical services supervisor in 1999. She is a graduate of Penn State
University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics.
Patricia A. Staples has been promoted to assistant vice president. She has
more than 20 years experience in the human resources field and is responsible
for the company’s human resources operations.
Staples joined Penn Millers in 1998 as human resources manager. She is a
graduate of Point Park College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in
behavioral science.
She is a member of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Society of Human Resource
Management and is an adjunct faculty member in the University of Scranton
School of Continuing Education.
Southern Union: The Austin, Texas, firm has named Richard N. Marshall to
treasurer and director of investor relations.
He was vice president of rates and regulatory affairs for PG Energy of
Wilkes-Barre. PG Energy is an operating division of Southern Union.
Before PG Energy was sold to Southern Union in November 1999, Marshall was
treasurer and assistant secretary for PG Energy and its former parent company,
Pennsylvania Enterprises Inc.
Marshall holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Wilkes University.
He is chairman of the Gas Regulatory Matters Committee of the Energy
Association of Pennsylvania.
The Southern Union treasury and investor relations functions now will be
managed from Wilkes-Barre.
Schott Glass Technologies: The company has announced three promotions:
Bruce Jennings has been appointed vice president and general manager of
the optics for devices business segment of Schott Worldwide.
He will oversee Schott units from the United States, Germany, Switzerland,
Malaysia and Singapore whose products include raw optical glass, pressed
blanks, filter glasses, Schott Zerodur glass-ceramic, laser glass and
processed optical components.
The promotion followed Schott’s decision to reorganize and focus marketing
efforts on customers rather than products.
Jennings will continue as president and chief executive officer of Schott
Glass Technologies.
He held upper management positions with Vaughan Seed Co. of Sandoz (now
Norvatis) of Switzerland and U.S. Gypsum of Chicago. He also worked in
investment banking and consulting.
He is a graduate of Indiana University, where he studied production
management and industrial engineering. He received a master’s degree in
management in the executive program at the Kellogg School of Northwestern
University and he studied at the INSEAD institute for management education in
Fontainbleau, France.
He serves on several boards of directors within the Schott organization.
Stephen Krenitsky, vice president of operations, has also been appointed
manager, material management.
He will coordinate all glass melting activities for the Optics for Devices
business segment, which include Schott manufacturing sites in the United
States, Germany and other locations.
Krenitsky joined Schott in 1971 as a design engineer and has held the
positions of manager, engineering services and director of manufacturing and
engineering.
He earned a mechanical engineering degree from Penn State University.
Allan C. Kreutzer has been named vice president, marketing and sales.
Previously, he was director of sales and marketing.
Before joining Schott, Kreutzer worked at Heraeus Amersil as vice president
of business development.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the New Jersey
Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration degree in
marketing from Seton Hall University.
Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants: William R. Lazor
has been elected vice president of the organization.
Lazor is a shareholder of Kronick Kalada Berdy & Co. of Kingston. He
concentrates in taxation and has practiced at the partner level for more than
An institute member since 1975, Lazor holds CPA licenses in both
Pennsylvania and New York. He is a member of the New York Institute of
Certified Public Accountants and American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants.
In addition to serving as a speaker for the institute and the Internal
Revenue Service, he has authored numerous financial articles and appeared on
the institute-sponsored television series, “Money Talks.” He also serves on
the institute State Taxation Committee and is past chairman of the Trustees of
the institute Scholarship Fund.
Lazor is also an officer and shareholder of Keystone Financial Advisors
Inc. He is registered with the National Association of Securities Dealers, and
the New York Stock Exchange in general securities, and the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania as a registered investment adviser.
He is a 1971 graduate of Wilkes University.
