As local residents wake up Wednesday morning, snow will continue. Wind gusts are expected to reach between 30-40 mph, especially over the higher regions. Estimated snowfall is 3-6 inches in downtown Colorado Springs, 2-4 inches at the airport, 6-10 inches in Monument and 6-9 inches in Woodland Park.
Highs on Wednesday and Thursday will hover near the freezing mark before climbing to near 40 degrees Friday. Another system of winter weather is expected for the region Thursday and Friday, with lighter showers on Thursday and the evening into the morning being a little more unpredictable, according to KOAA meteorologist Casey Dorn.
"While impacts may be greater in the southern mountains, you should expect additional accumulating snow at the end of the week, which will be significant," Dorn said.
