Timed almost perfectly for the holiday decorations that have been popping up, batches of snow showers drifted across New Jersey Tuesday morning and Tuesday afternoon, leaving a light coating on the ground in several counties. This turned out to be the state’s first measurable snow of the season — defined by the National Weather Service as one-tenth of an inch or more sticking to the ground. Many counties in northern and central New Jersey had brief snow showers or scattered snow flurries, but with nothing accumulating on the ground on this very cold and blustery November day. A blast of frigid air made Tuesday one of the coldest days of the autumn season — and Wednesday will be even colder, according to forecasters, who say morning lows will hover in the upper teens to mid-20s and afternoon highs will be stuck in the 30s, even in parts of South Jersey. Based on historical averages, high temperatures should be about 50 degrees and lows should be around 35 degrees in New Jersey in late November. The coldest air so far this season has arrived in our region. Lows tonight will be near 20° with wind chills in the teens and decreasing winds overnight. Temperatures will rebound toward normal late this week, although rain is likely on Friday. #PAwx #NJwx #DEwx #MDwx pic.twitter.com/l1BzF16emn — NWS Mount Holly November 28, 2023
