CLEVELAND, Ohio - As the day turns into night, the severity of snowfall has lessened throughout Cuyahoga, Geauga and Lake counties. While there are still a few hours of forecasted snow remaining, according to the National Weather Service, the light in the middle of the storm is visible. Starting on Wednesday, the highs for the rest of the week are expected to be well above freezing, near 40 degrees on Wednesday and near 50 on Thursday. Tuesday afternoon and evening both have about 30% of snow showers, primarily between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. By the end of the night, another 4 to 5 inches is possible in some areas, mostly east of Interstate 71. Conditions have also improved over Lorain, Portage and Summit counties where the winter weather advisory has been lifted due to the lake-effect snow moving eastbound. The lake-effect snow warning is scheduled to be lifted at midnight, around the time that the storm is expected to lift and move northeast and over Lake Erie. The temperature will drop to 19 degrees tonight, but climb to 38 degrees on Wednesday, where the skies will be partly cloud throughout the day and night, according to the forecast. On Thursday, temperatures will climb to the high for the week, 49 degrees. But the warm weather will meet a new weather system and result in rain beginning on Thursday and lasting until Friday night. Saturday is forecasted to remain in the 40s and be partly cloudy, and rain is expected to return on Sunday and Monday.Zachary Smith is the data reporter for cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer.
