Warm, rainy weekend ahead

A chilly start today will lead to a warm, rainy weekend.

The National Weather Service reported that it was 34 degrees at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport as of 7:54 a.m. Overcast skies this morning will give way to mostly sunny skies as the day progresses. The high will climb to the mid to upper 40s.

Cloud cover will increase tonight, with a chance of rain and snow mainly after 5 a.m. The low will drop to the mid 30s. Little or no new snow accumulation is expected.

The chance for rain and snow will continue before 9 a.m. on Saturday, followed by a chance of rain for the remainder of the day. Otherwise, partly sunny skies are expected with a high in the lower to mid 50s. Little or no new snow accumulation is expected.

Partly cloudy skies are predicted for Saturday night, with a low around 29 degrees.

Partly sunny skies are predicted for Sunday, with a high only climb to about 40 degrees. Partly cloudy skies are expected on Sunday night, with a low dropping to the upper teens.
