Geneva school board fires transportation supervisor
Nov. 5—GENEVA — The Board of Education voted unanimously to fire district Transportation Supervisor Charlotte Leonard at a special meeting Monday night.
Leonard was put on unpaid leave Oct. 18, after the board voted to do so at an Oct. 16 meeting.
The resolution from Oct. 16 that put Leonard on leave listed various grounds for potential termination.
The resolution alleged "Ms. Leonard has engaged in an established pattern of poor professional judgment and poor communication, failure to competently perform the duties of her position, failure to comply with the requirements of state law, and violation of Board policy."
Among the specific allegations the resolution makes are that Leonard did not address or report a disciplinary incident on a school bus in December 2023.
The resolution alleged Leonard told a building administrator of the incident that "'nothing happened,' although a recording of the incident clearly indicated otherwise."
The resolution alleged Leonard sent a parent to an incorrect drop off point in June 2023.
After passing the termination resolution, the board went into an executive session.
Board President Marti Milliken Dixon said the session was to discuss the district's vacant superintendent position.
That position had been open since the board parted ways with the previous superintendent, Terri Hrina-Treharn, at an Aug. 22 meeting.
At that meeting, David Riley was appointed as interim superintendent.
