Marty Moore: Ulster prop retires to 'prioritise mental well being'

Ulster prop Marty Moore has retired from professional rugby on medical advice "to prioritise his mental well being".

The 33-year-old played 94 times for Ulster after joining the United Rugby Championship side in 2018.

Prior to moving to Belfast, Moore came through the ranks at Leinster and spent two seasons in England with Wasps.

Moore won 10 Ireland caps and helped Joe Schmidt's side to the Six Nations in 2014 and 2015.

Ulster said that Moore "has the full support of the club".

Bryn Cunningham, head of rugby operations and recruitment at Ulster, said Moore should be celebrated for "an outstanding career".

"I think we can safely say that Ulster saw the best of Marty through a distinguished career where he became a cornerstone of the team.

"We wish Marty, and his family, the best for his future and we will continue to support him in every way possible.

"He can hold his head high as one of the Ulster men who made the province his home and made a huge contribution on the pitch."
