CLEVELAND, Ohio — The lake-effect snowstorm Monday night and early Tuesday morning didn’t quite reach predictions of 16 inches, but it still packed a wallop. The squalls produced by the storm early Tuesday morning were among the more intense seen in Northeast Ohio in quite a while. By Tuesday night, spotters with the National Weather Service were reporting 13 inches of snow in the Madison area in Lake County. That was the largest amount in Northeast Ohio, matched by 13 inches in Jefferson in Ashtabula County. The most snow reported in Cuyahoga County was 7 inches in Chagrin Falls, which borders Geauga County. The Weather Service at Hopkins International Airport recorded just under 2 inches of snow. Thompson Township in Geauga County had 8 inches of snow and Chardon had 7.5 inches, while Hiram in Portage County had 7 inches. A lake-effect snow warning remained in effect for Ashtabula County until 7 a.m., with another 1 inch of snow possible overnight. While temperatures were expected to drop into the upper teens early Wednesday morning, no additional snow was expected in most of the area.
