The 40 tonne articulated lorry was travelling through Port Quin in Cornwall when it crashed on the tight bend.

The peaceful, sheltered inlet of Port Quin, on the north Cornish coast, was once a bustling fishing port but is now home to a number of holiday cottages and is popular with walkers and water sports enthusiasts.

The nearby Doyden Castle has been used as a filming location for the TV drama Poldark and has since been turned into a National Trust-owned holiday cottage.

The vehicle, a Volvo FH, weighs up to 40 tonnes and has a 40ft trailer.

Owners M.Way& Son, based in South Molton, in Devon, said no one was injured but declined to comment further.

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall police said: 'Police were called at 5pm on 10 September to Port Quin, following a report of a single vehicle collision.

'It was reported that an artic lorry had overturned, blocking the road, and spiling animal feed.

'The road was blocked until the vehicle was recovered the following day.'
