Why Halle Bailey just blasted ex DDG over the safety of their son
Halle Bailey is hitting the off switch on social media.
After her ex, DDG, brought their 11-month-old son Halo into a live Twitch stream without her stamp of approval, the 24-year-old Little Mermaid star pulled the plug on her Instagram and X (formerly Twitter ) accounts — but not until she publicly called out the rapper.
"Hi everyone. just so you know i am out of town and i don't approve of my baby being on a stream tonight," she posted to X on Wednesday, November 6, after the stream went live. "I wasn't told or notified and I am extremely upset to have my baby in front of millions of people. I am his mother and protector and saddened that I wasn't notified especially when I am out of town."
For Bailey, the issue hit even harder because she's still dealing with postpartum struggles. "As a woman experiencing severe postpartum, there are boundaries that I wish to be respected," she continued. "Nobody knows what someone is going through until they snap."
Meanwhile, DDG — whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr. — didn't stay silent. He posted a picture of gifts that Twitch host Kai Cenat gave Halo, including a Nintendo Switch, a box of diapers, blocks, a stuffed animal and more, writing, "Me & Halo appreciate it bro" via X .
The two started dating in early 2022, welcoming baby Halo the following year in December after keeping the starlet's pregnancy a secret. However, just last month in October, they decided to throw in the towel on their relationship.
"Dear friends and supporters, After much reflection and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways," DDG wrote on his Instagram Story at the time. "This decision was not easy, but we believe it's the best path forward for both of us. I cherish the time we've spent together and the love we've shared."
As of Thursday, November 7, Bailey's Instagram and X accounts were initially deactivated. However, by the time of publishing, the Hollywood actress was back online.
Taking to X, she clarified, "yesterday maybe i did overreact and shouldn't have brought it here. i know that halo is always safe with his dad. i just don't like finding out with the rest of the world what my baby is doing. thank u kai for the gifts for halo ."
