Wilkes Opens Season By Splitting In King’s Tourney

WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University volleyball team opened its season by
splitting a pair of matches at the King’s College Tournament on Friday.

The Lady Colonels dropped a 30-13, 28-30, 33-31, 30-13 decision to King’s
in their opening match. Wilkes responded with a 30-11, 31-29, 30-17, victory
over Keystone College in their second contest.
The Lady Colonels will return to tournament play today with two games.
Wilkes will take on Marywood at 11 a.m., before concluding competition with a
match against College Misericordia.

Megan Riley led Wilkes in the loss to King’s with 15 kills and nine digs.

Jillian Focht added 12 kills, while Alicia Vieselmeyer had 11 kills and
nine digs. Amanda Harlan, who had five kills, contributed nine digs.

Nicole Hahn had 37 assists for the Lady Colonels.

Women’s Soccer

Franklin & Marshall, 3 Wilkes 0

LANCASTER – Wilkes University women’s soccer team dropped a decision to
Franklin & Marshall College in the opening game of the F&M Tournament on
Friday afternoon.

knocked home a shot off an assist from Ann Clough. Zambrano struck again in
the 28th minute, off an assist from Emily Knapp, to give Franklin & Marshall a


Kelly Cassels tallied the only goal of the second half for the Diplomats in
the 67th minute off an assist from Knapp.

Wilkes held a slim 9-8 shots-on-goal advantage, and the Diplomats had an
