Wilkes Sweeps Keuka In Doubleheader
WILKES-BARRE — Billy Sisko hit the game-tying home run and Jordan Padams slammed a two-run shot later in the inning to give Wilkes an 11-9 win over Keuka in game one of a non-conference doubleheader at Artillery Park on Sunday. The Colonels (10-6) took the second game 11-2 over the Storm (2-10).
Anthony Giuffrida (2-0) earned the win in two innings, allowing three hits and one run.
Padams had three hits, including a home run and three RBI. Corey Helfrich had three hits and two RBI while Kyle Folweiler had three hits, including a triple and Brad Woznisky added a pair of doubles.
In the nightcap, Shawn Ward pitched for the win in relief of John Paul Palmer. Ward went four innings, allowing no runs and only one hit.
Folweiler had two singles and a triple while Geoff Miller had three hits and two RBI. Mayerski had a single and a double. Sisko had a two-run homer and Andrew Garafoli drove in a pair of runs with a triple.
King’s 8, FDU-Florham 6
Matt Colgan, Ryan Knowles and Matt Fignar delivered three consecutive RBI doubles in the eighth inning to lead King’s to a comeback victory.
Matt VanStone got the win for the Monarchs (8-9), pitching one-third of an inning in the eighth. Mark Yankowski earned the save while King’s starter J.T. Levonick went four innings, allowing three hits and two walks.
Colgan, Jon Venarchick and Matt Livoy led the Monarchs with two base hits apiece.
Wilkes splits doubleheader
Lindsay Behrenhausen fired a five-hit shutout to lead Wilkes to a 5-0 win in the first of a Freedom Conference doubleheader with Manhattanville on Sunday. The Valiants took game two 9-8.
Melisa Bracone had three hits to lead Wilkes (10-6), including a double, home run and three RBI. Alex Ingram contributed a pair of singles.
In the second game, Gina Stefanelli had four singles and three RBI while Alyssa Ciesla hit a double and home run for two RBI.
Misericordia wins two
Kat Lucenti went the distance in the opener to pick up a 6-4 win over Arcadia while Katie Eiden compiled 11 strikeouts in game two as the Cougars won 7-5.
Eiden had three hits in the opener, while Hollie Sarnak had two hits and two RBI. Lindsay Miller and Nicole Wenner both added a pair of hits.
Eiden, Kristen Norris and Nicole Hoskins all blasted home runs in the nightcap. Norris had three hits and Sarnak and Nikki Jayne both added two hits.
MEN’S TENNIS
Wilkes 7, Elizabethtown 2
Wes McCollum, Chris Cozzillio, Jon Rohrbach, Josh Gardner and Brian Fannelli were winners for Wilkes in first through fifth singles.
Cozzillio and Tom Miller teamed for a win at second doubles while Gardner and Fannelli won at third doubles.
Cabrini 8, Misericordia 1
Misericordia’s Justin Muthler and Matt Hopkins teamed for a 9-8 (7-5) win at second doubles for the Cougars.
WOMEN’S TENNNIS
Elizabethtown 7, Wilkes 2
Alison McDonald and Xiaoqiao Zhang teamed up for a win at first doubles while Kristin Wilt and Victoria Bybel won at second doubles, giving Wilkes (14-2) its only two points in the match.
