Woman arrested, man still at large after deadly shooting at Wichita QuikTrip on Halloween
One person has been arrested and another is still on the run in connection with a deadly shooting at a Wichita QuikTrip on Halloween.
Wichita police arrested a 19-year-old woman Wednesday on suspicion of second-degree murder in connection with a shooting that killed a 13-year-old boy and injured a 15-year-old boy. She has not yet been formally charged.
Authorities are still looking for 19-year-old Jermall Campbell of Wichita, who is wanted on charges of felony murder, aggravated battery and multiple counts of aggravated assault in connection the shooting, Wichita police spokesperson Andrew Ford said Thursday.
"Campbell remains at large, and a warrant will be issued for his arrest," Ford said. "Campbell is considered armed and dangerous."
Police said Campbell and the 19-year-old woman arrested on Wednesday are related.
The shooting was reported at 10:36 p.m. at the QuikTrip on Central and Oliver. The shooting happened during what police called a "disturbance/fight."
Police were called about the shooting about the same time the Wichita boys were taken to Wesley Medical Center by a private vehicle.
The younger boy was pronounced dead at the hospital at 10:48 p.m. The other boy was shot in the leg and is expected to survive.
